Develop a self-assessment tool for assessing HEIs faculty readiness in promoting participation of women in STEM fields of study. The development and implementation of the tool, follows the conceptualisation process of the DigCompEdu Check in self-assessment tool for assessing educators' digital competences.

The intention through this project result is to assess how HEI faculty teaching STEM disciplines and their administrative staff addresses women participation and completion of STEM courses. Assessment tools support awareness development, evaluation or certification of the level of a given competence of an individual or organisation. ‘Self- assessment’ refers to the user perceiving its digital competence on its own, i.e. a subjective dimension is added

The WESTEM Consortium intends to create a comprehensive toolkit, including a suite of 20 learning resources, consisting of systematic and inclusive educational scenarios to support HEI faculty towards more inclusive tertiary education STEM courses to encourage girls to study and complete STEM subjects.

The intention is not only to consider gender aspects, but also consideration of the profiles of students in terms of their cultural and socio-economic background - women from marginalised backgrounds are even less likely to pursue Higher Education studies and in particular STEM disciplines.

Development of role model mentoring programme for girls and women to encourage them to pursue STEM fields of study and occupations, using successful women examples in STEM related careers.

In response to an identified gap in role models for girls in STEM fields, this project result refers to showcasing the portraits of women from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds developed almost from the onset of the project. Mentors in WESTEM have a critical role to play.

In the context of the WESTEM project, we developed this cross-country report aiming to provide an overarching picture of the project lifecycle since it especially relates to project result 3, which runs through the 24 months of implementation of the project. The cross-country report derives from the five country reports developed by the consortium's partner organisations: Sweden, Austria, Italy, Greece, and Cyprus.

The cross-country report serves a significant purpose. The analysis and experiences shared through the implementation of the WESTEM project offer a descriptive and contextualised assessment of state of the art for gender equality in STEM studies and careers in the partner countries and other regions. In practical terms, it is crucial to establish a deeper understanding of the subject matter's challenges, outline long-term objectives, characterise the difficulties in a global setting, and create conditions and recommendations to reverse the gender gap in STEM in the future.
